Clinical Office Supervisor



GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Clinical Office Supervisor, is responsible for providing hands-on clinical care to patients within the scope of the Medical Practice Act, as well as directing and guiding back office staff in monitoring and expediting workflow. This position helps in ensuring the back office operations of the office function smoothly and that the proper protocols are in place. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodates services for the physicians and the practice, following established standards, practices, policies and procedures.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Effectively leads the work of clinical staff and other staff, as required. Serves as an effective mentor and educational resource to staff. Serves as an additional resource, when needed, in regards to billing or coding issues at the practice.
  • Participates in interviewing applicants and provides appropriate feedback to hiring manager, as needed. Provides valuable information to supervisors for employee performance evaluations, as needed. Schedules and assigns clinical staff to ensure workflow is maintained and daily tasks are completed.
  • May escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs and document all information in patient’s chart.
  • Ensures all related reports, labs and information is filed and is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment.
  • Provides instructions to patients as instructed by provider. Effectively explains procedures and treatments to patients and to significant others when necessary. Ensures consents for treatment are executed according to AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG) guidelines
  • Manages stocking of exam rooms with adequate medical supplies and maintenance/sterilization of equipment and instruments. Supervises all logs and required checks. Collaborates with appropriate team members to insure the practice meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with providers, clinical workers, patients and front office staff to ensure the best care and optimal medical practice conditions.



KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
  • Must be willing to float to other AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG practices), within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
  • Experience with computers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program or Accredited School of Nursing.
  • 2 years of medical office experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
1. American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certification, American Medical Technologist (AMT) Certification or current, valid Florida State Board of Nursing, Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse License. American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certification or American Medical Technologist (AMT) Certification is required to be obtained with the first 90 days of employment for those not possessing this minimum certification. (Not required for current LPN or RN license.) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Certification will be accepted for employees who began employment prior to November 15, 2012, but the certification must not lapse or else is required to then obtain AAMA or AMT Certification or LPN or RN license.
2. Current, valid CPR certification is required.
