Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The SDOC Clinical Lead assists provider(s) and other staff members in delivery of medical care for patients ranging in age from pediatric to geriatric. Maintain organization and facilitation of patient flow. Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and co-workers. Follows all infection control policies and procedures.  Adheres to Centra Care corporate compliance plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

•         Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork.

•         Performs properly and legibly documents and reports all procedures and assessments in accordance with department policy.  Documents appropriately in EMR using personal OPID/logon.

•         Obtains a brief summary of presenting patient’s chief complaint. Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior motor skills and physiological norms of the patient. Documents vital signs, allergies, current medications, LMP and pain scale threshold if appropriate.  Completes all follow-up assessments and evaluations. Assesses for signs of abuse or neglect. 

•         Performs treatments and administers medications (as authorized under scope of practice and training) following safety practices and adhering to policy guidelines. Applies orthopedic devices and dressings as ordered.  Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.   Evaluates effectiveness of interventions.  Interprets and verifies physician orders correctly.  Investigates and reports questionable situations.

•         Performs diagnostic testing to include EKG, spirometry, audiometry, titmus, pulse oximetry and waived laboratory/forensic testing.  Processes instruments according to current policies/guidelines.

•         Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities.  Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed.  Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. 

•         Follows CDC isolation guidelines, infection control practices, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand washing according to policy and enforces safety regulations.

•         Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department or center.

•         Serves as a role model to all staff, preceptor and/or mentor and will have primary responsibility for new employee training of nursing and medical assistants.

•         Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.

•         Assists with addressing medical staff performance issues.

•         Holds staff accountable to complete all daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly assignments according to deadlines.

•         Acts as a role model and subject matter expert for policies and procedures set in place by management, as well as working with new software or equipment.



KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

•         Demonstrated ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements

•         Ability to operate a computer, copier, fax and scanner

•         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others of diverse backgrounds

•         3+ years of experience of general clinical duties and practices

•         Experience triaging patient presenting concerns

•         Ability to work in fast-paced clinical setting

•         Experience working with high volumes of people from pediatric to geriatric age groups

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

•          N/A

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•         Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

•         Associate’s degree preferred

•         Basic Machine Operator (BMO) license

 

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

1.)    Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following:

•         American Association of Medical Assistants (“AAMA”) for Certified Medical Assistants

•         American Medical Certification Association (“AMCA”) for Clinical Medical Assistant Certification

•         American Medical Technologists (“AMT”) for Registered Medical Assistant

•         National Association for Health Professionals (“NAHP”) for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant

•         National Center for Competency Testing (“NCCT”) for National Certified Medical Assistant

•         National Healthcare Association (“NHA”) for Registered Clinical Medical Assistant

2.)     CPR Certification

3.)     Continued maintenance of BAT certification after hire
